Sickle Cell Anemia(SCA) is NOT a simple disease to treat especially during critical phase of Sickle Cell Crisis.
An individual born with SCA needs accurate laboratory diagnosis at earliest age, may be at the time of birth. It is a challenge because all labs
do not have facility to decide about final diagnosis.
In India, every year more & more babies are born with SCA requiring proper care throughout the life.
It is a genetically inherited blood disorder of Haemoglobin from parents which does not have access of CURE to every case even in developed countries. Hence, managing such cases on day today basis & during Sickle Cell Crisis needs expertise.
Research in SCA for diagnosis and management is happening every year. There is a need to translate this knowledge into a practice.
SICKLE CELL UPDATE 2020 is conference to share knowledge & wisdom in managing cases of SCA. Two day conference on 18-19th January 2020 is for Patient-Parent-other(Nurse, Laboratory Technician, Sickle Cell Counselor, Social Worker, Political Leaders, Teachers)& Doctors.
